1965 ~ Epilogue

It had been a whirlwind trip, visiting numerous Western European locations! On the flight back to Montreal, I kept thinking, over and over again, how my mother would have enjoyed at least a portion of this long and arduous trip, and how unfair it was for her not to have done so while I was jaunting about, enriching myself with incredible experiences at her expense. Arriving back home, she hugged me and hugged me and hugged me! Kathy and I could only stay for a few hours since we were going to her home in New York State to meet her parents and discuss our upcoming marriage.
Later, I would reminisce about my trip and how my mother had made it financially feasible for me to take it - a financial expenditure she couldn't afford. To this day, I feel guilty about the entire situation. I believe it was JFK who said, "There is always inequality in life." So true, life isn't fair - but it is what it is!
